This letter is addressed to New York State Attorney General Letitia James from activists Bryan C. Jones and Davina Dee Conner) Otalor on behalf of people living with HIV to protest the unjust civil commitment of NuShawn Williams.

More than 250 people have signed this letter calling for a review and reconsideration of the state’s handling of Nushawn Williams’ case. Now that Nushawn has finally received his annual review hearing, we ask the state to stop opposing his release and allow him to return to the community, where trusted community leaders and healthcare providers are prepared to support, monitor, and assist him in rebuilding his life.
